ARA HISTORY
 
ARA Jeretzian figures are 100% wool, hand made in Austria.  Manufactured from early 1950s to mid 1970s, over 200 different posable creations ranging in size from a mere ½ inch up to 10 inches tall are considered extremely rare, vintage collectibles.  NO individual artist or corporation has been able to duplicate their character and meticulously detailed quality.
 
"Handmade Original ARA Modell Austria, The World's Loveliest Animals" were also distributed under the name of "Pocket Pets" throughout Austria, France, Germany, and the United States.
 
The miniature Steiff Wool Collection, also known as Wolle, Woolen, Woolie, Wull, or Wulle animals are often confused as ARAs due to their wool content.  Steiff pieces are noticeably pom-pom (or pompom) like in style and NOT as petite or detailed as ARAs.
 
ARA characters are a combination of pipe cleaner and needle felted wool on a wire structure with air brush details and props, NOT to be mistaken with ordinary "stick figure" pipe cleaner animals. These proportionate 3-dimensional critters make great companions for any stuffed animal, Teddy bear, doll, or dollhouse.  Collectors commonly associate ARAs as accessories for Annalee Dolls, Barbie Dolls, Nancy Ann Dolls, Precious Moments figurines, and Steiff animals.
